Our Founder and CEO - Ashley Winston, PhD
Ashley specializes in advising public and private sector clients on economic and policy matters, and in the development and application of modeling and empirical methods.
Ashley is an experienced economic, public policy, and technical adviser with extensive international credentials, as well as a leading practitioner in simulation, analytical, and empirical modeling frameworks. His focus on practical solutions is evidenced in a track-record of policy reform projects and capacity building programs for governments and businesses in the U.S. and abroad.
Ashley was previously Chief Economist and Managing Director at Millstein & Co, where he specialized in economic research, policy analysis, and advising clients on economic and sovereign debt matters.
Prior to that, Dr. Winston was Chief Economist, Managing Director, and practice lead at a Big 4 consulting firm. He led international teams on a range of major policy reform projects with focus areas that included: Fiscal policy reform in Australia, Bahrain, Puerto Rico, and the UAE; Infrastructure policy in Australia, Singapore, and the Caribbean; Environment and natural resources policy in Australia and the United States; and International trade, agriculture, and energy policy in the United States, Australia, and Singapore.
While a Senior Research Fellow at the internationally-prominent economic modeling research unit The Centre of Policy Studies at Monash University in Australia, Ashley spent 8 years based in Washington DC assisting a range of U.S. federal government agencies including the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Departments of Treasury, Commerce, Energy, Transportation, and Agriculture. He has advised U.S. Administrations and congressional committees, and served with U.S. federal government inter-agency policy teams tasked with examining major economic policy reforms in areas including international trade, agriculture, energy, and the environment.
Many domestic and international corporate clients, industry groups, NGOs, and non-profit policy organizations have benefited from his insights on complex policy and macroeconomic matters through a local, national, and global lens.
Ashley has received awards and commendations from U.S. Federal Government agencies and The White House, and a number of research awards from universities and international organizations. He continues to hold an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre of Policy Studies at Victoria University.
Ashley holds a Doctorate in economics and economic modeling from Monash University, Australia (under Professor Peter B. Dixon), and M.Ec. (Hons) and B.Ec. (Hons) degrees with majors in economics, mathematics, econometrics, and economic modeling.
Ashley lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Christine and their two boys, Zachary and Jensen.
